JAL BAND ORIGIN
The name of the band ‘JAL’ is from a URDU word which means water. As the name itself suggests ‘continue moving and always find a way’. Jal’s main motive is the band’s vision to recognize music as the artistic extension of this natural unity.
The Jal Band was formed in 2002 in LAHORE. The band formed as a random process when Goher Mumtaz saw Atif singing in a competition. Goher was also a songwriter, composer and it helped the members of the band to itself mix and master their own songs which they composed.
The turning point came in their life when they released their first song ‘Aadat’. This song became viral and this helped them to reach to their audience. They started getting visibilty. The song Aadat was directed by Umair Anwar in 2008. they hit milestones. This song is still in the hearts of many people.
When Goher composed the song Aadat, after that he started searching for more dedicated artists for his band. The song was first released in the Pakistan region. And boom!!!! the song became the most downloaded single in the region of Pakistan. The members started to join as a lead singer Atif Aslam, bass guitar Shazi. The release of their single ‘Aadat’ was the most downloaded song in Geo TV and as a result, they were signed by the music label Sadaf Stereo.
Why did Atif leave JAL?There were issues between Atif and lead guitarist Goher Mumtaz and as a result, he left the band achieving his solo career.
Why did Farhan Saeed leave JAL?FARHAN quoted, “It’s pretty obvious why I left it. I wanted to do certain things which I couldn’t do while I was in the band.” He wanted to plan and do something of his own so he decided to leave the band.
